Greenhouse Worker - Product Order Picking
$15.00 / hr | Seasonal Full-time | Beamsville, ON
A Beamsville, ON greenhouse client is currently seeking Product Order Pickers. The order picking role is ideal for those that enjoy being active at work and working in a fast-paced environment. In this role, you will pick plant orders according to various documents and prepare them for delivery. Attention to detail is essential to succeed in this role, as you will be visually inspecting the quality of plants and selecting them for orders.
There is no special education or experience required. This is an entry-level position with on-the-job training and an opportunity for some great work experience!
What You’ll Be Doing:
Sort plants in various categories
Pick orders as per the order details
Apply labels, UPC’s and care tags
Apply upgrades (pots, accessories, sleeves)
Pack product in boxes and trays
Load pallets and carts
Ensure all tasks are performed efficiently, timely and in order of priority
Other Responsibilities May Include:
Planting, harvesting, and processing flowers
Potting and re-potting plants, planting bulbs and seeds
Examining products for quality & reporting signs of damage or disease
Cleaning plants and preparing for shipping
Clearing growing areas and preparing for new plants
Cleaning work areas
Work Environment:
Exposure to seasonal temperatures (hot, cold)
Cold/refrigerated areas
Wet/damp
Dusty
Noisy
Minimum Requirements:
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
Ability to distinguish between colours
Ability to understand and follow verbal/written direction
Must be comfortable doing physical work, standing for long periods of time and in varying temperatures
Ability to perform repetitive tasks
Ability to lift, walk freely, bend, kneel, crouch, and turn
Ability to lift 25-30lbs
Ability to work in manufacturing environment meeting production targets
Must be comfortable wearing steel-toe/safety boots/shoes
